One of the most important questions is raised by Fyodor Reshetnikov in his film For Peace – the question of peace. The artist finished this painting in the fiftieth year of the twentieth century – during the restoration of the country after the Great Patriotic War. Despite the past few years after her graduation, the memories of her are still very strong.
The heroes of Fyodor Reshetnikov’s painting “For Peace” are five boys. They grew up during the war, so shooting, explosions, murders are common for them. Because of this, their desires are different from what ordinary boys should want – they want peace. They don’t need toys, entertainment or movies – they need a peaceful sky overhead.
With childlike spontaneity, they paint the word “peace” high on the wall in white paint. Let this not solve global problems, but faith in a better future is all they have left.
In the background, the artist showed people demonstrating. They have red flags in their hands – they express their point of view and try to fight for their ideals. The demonstration is dispersed by the police – apparently their actions are disagreeable to the government.
Fyodor Reshetnikov’s painting “For Peace” is very patriotic in its mood. In the heart of the viewer is born pride for their people, their homeland, and at the same time, sadness for those who, at the cost of their own lives, achieved a bright future for their descendants.
